Voice Work and Harmony Singing
Welcome to April's "Write on
the Farm" Workshop with David Burbidge of Lakeland Voices David will lead
the morning’s session. Welcome David, we’re very much looking forward to
singing on the farm with you!
The afternoon session will be spent outdoors around the farm, reflecting on sound/s and how we convey them on paper - through use of different fonts, indentations, shaped poem around the page? - and on how we use our voices.
I'll be referring to Jerome Rothenberg's book 'Shaking the Pumpkin' and also magazines he and Dennis Tedlock edited in the 1970's called Alcheringa (Ethnopoetics, Voice of and from different Cultures), as well as an extract from 'PrairyErth' by William Least Heat Moon
10.30am-1pm – David Burbidge will lead the
morning session. There'll be a short break around 11.45am. Geraldine will lead the afternoon session
1pm-2pm - Lunch
2pm-3.15pm - Outdoor session
3.15pm-3.30pm - Break
3.30pm-4.30pm - Quiet Writing Time, plus time for group read and feedback
Next workshop: May 23rd, the workshop will be on Piel Island, Furness Peninsula
Workshops take place in Cumbria at Jane’s farm, near Kirkby Lonsdale,
